Save Energy by Eliminating Draughts

 

Saving energy is something that most people will think will take a lot of effort and will involve things like changing g energy service providers and much more. However, there are actually a variety of simple things you can do in order to save energy in your home or business premises and one of the things that you can do is to actually try and get rid of any draughts in your house.

There are a number of different places that draughts can get in your house and some of the might not be so obvious. If you have draughts in your house however, then you are basically wasting energy on heating your house as the heat that is generated from radiators, fires or heaters etc will escape rather quickly. This means that you will have to have the heating on more often and for longer amounts of time to keep your house warm. Draughts are especially terrible in the winter time.

The good news is that eliminating these draughts is relatively easy. Now, we will tackle the main areas of concern first of all. Some of the areas that draughts will often get in to your house include doors and windows. One of the ways to combat this is to of course get thicker windows and things like that. However, this will cost a significant amount of money and it will probably be money that you don’t have to spare. Now, one of the things that you can do in this situation is to apply PVC seal on your doors and windows where the draught is getting in. This is extremely cheap to buy and is available for just a few pounds and it is also extremely easy to apply. You won’t believe the difference that this makes.

Another area that draught will often get in is through the letterbox of your house. There are a number of different covers you can get for these that will eliminate draught a little. These are once again available for a relatively low cost and there are also similar devices for key holes which is another area that draughts get in quite easily.

You should check your house for draughts regularly as often, new draughts can appear in gaps in the floorboards and so on and it is important that you find them as quickly as possible to eliminate the need to waste energy.
