The best way to think of the scheme is like a school grading system as ‘A’ rated products are the most energy efficient whilst B rated and C rated products are less efficient and so on.

If you are buying a new product, then ideally, you should be looking for an A rated product or higher as this will be the most energy efficient and will reduce the carbon footprint of your home. Of course, when you save energy, you will also be saving money meaning that you can actually save money in the long run by purchasing a product which is energy efficient.
The great thing about the Energy rating system is that it is exceptionally easy to understand. Products are simply graded and you don’t have to think about it at all, you just have to look for one that is rated highly. These do usually cost a little more than the less efficient products but remember, the saving will be made in the price of your next energy bill and every energy bill after that. If you have trouble understanding the energy rating system, simply ask someone in the shop to point out the best products for energy efficiency. Whether you have to ask or not, it should be something you take into account.
